Water Transfer Printing a great value adding process
Water transfer printing is the most cost effective method of applying intricate designs such as camouflage to complex shapes. But very few manufacturers and distributors are aware of just how valuable this printing method can be.
Water transfer printing gives the ability to make one type of material look like another. This is advantages when the desired look of a material is not the best material for the application; think about a high moisture application in the marine industry where the desired look is a wood grain. Wood swells and warps where a more suitable material would be a plastic or a composite. With water transfer printing the best solution can be achieved by using the most suitable material decoratively coated using water transfer printing to look like the desired material. So our plastic or composite piece can look like high end walnut or birds eye maple.
Water transfer printing can be the bridge in getting our products into new markets; camouflaging a product can open markets that would normally be closed without the application of camouflage.
These are just a couple of examples of how water transfer printing can help bring added value to the products we manufacture and distribute.

Water transfer printing services providers – helping you find the right one
As the popularity of water transfer printing increases so do the number of providers entering the market to service the needs of the customer base. This article will give you some guidelines to help you find a professional service provider. There are some great decorators available in North America but like everything finding the right one is worth the effort. This article hopefully helps you in finding the best one to suit your needs.
The single biggest component of a quality water transfer print is adherence to the substrate. It does not matter how good the pattern looks, if it does not stick to the surface of the item being processed it is useless. To ensure proper adhesion, professional decorators spend the majority of the time on your project in preparation of the substrate to ensure there is proper adhesion of the ink pattern.
Adhesion problems can be caused by several factors, the biggest reasons for inferior adhesion come from improper techniques being used, not using quality materials, and contamination in the process caused by not having proper facilities to work in. Professional decorators spend time and money to outfit their operations with proper painting facilities, dip tanks and wash stations. They educate themselves and their employees on the different substrates they work with. The stay on top of the latest technologies in the industry and they use the best materials available because the quality of the end product demands it.
When you have found a potential decorator do a search on the internet to see what others are saying about them. Ask them about their facilities, materials they use, and warranty on their work. Check their website to see the variety of work they have done. Most importantly you need to feel comfortable that the company doing your project is professional and will stand by their product and service. Do not base your decision on price alone, there are many who will do it for less but in this profession you truly do get what you pay for. Finding a great decorator for your project or products is well worth the effort and in the end will save you money and you will be happier with the finished product.

Camouflage is for everyone!
The art of camouflage is the ability to conceal from detection. Camouflage is used in nature by a variety of life forms. It is used as a defensive and offensive tactic. However, today we find camouflage is used not only in the art of concealment but also in the art of fashion. Many everyday items are now available in camouflage. From under garments to electronic devices it seems camouflage is everywhere. Because of the demand in the world outside of the realm of normality for camouflage, we are seeing the development of new and innovative forms of camouflage that actually work very well concealing. These camouflages have been developed for urban clientele but are finding the way into the more traditional uses for camouflage. We are seeing manufacturers of products that would never have produced a camouflage product 10 years ago, developing complete lines in camouflage. The demand for camouflage products seems to be on the rise and the most cost effective way to apply camouflage to solid items is with water transfer printing.

Prosthetics and Orthotics using water transfer printing
Water transfer printing is used in all types of industries some of them are obvious ie: hunting, automotive etc. while others are less obvious. Take the field of prosthetics and orthotics. In this field there is specialization in creating artificial limbs and braces that enhance the quality of life for the patient.
While as much as these appliances are functional and in need they do not always reflect visual appeal for their owner, this is where water transfer imaging comes in. This process works so well with complex shapes and there are so many patterns and designs to choose from the owner of a prosthetic and orthotic appliance can customize the look to reflect their attitudes, beliefs and spirit. After all it is not just an appliance but an extension of who we are personally. It is nice to be able to decorate it to reflect our own personality and water transfer imaging can provide us with the means to do just that.
